I’m Su-Yee Lin, a writer of surreal, magical-realist short stories. Sometimes literary fiction as well. I live in New York and hold a BA in Literary Arts from Brown University and an MFA in Fiction from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I’m a recipient of a 2012-2013 Fulbright Fellowship in Creative Writing to China; while there, I researched Chinese folktales in relation to place for a collection of short stories.
I’ve received residencies and grants from Omi International Arts Center, Tofte Lake Center, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, and Queens Council on the Arts and I was a 2014 NYC Emerging Writers Fellow at the Center for Fiction. I’m currently a participant in Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Workspace residency program. This blog started out as a travel/cultural/folktale-inspired one but I’m slowly transitioning it to encompass all those things+writing+regular life. My website is at https://suyeelin.com.
